Wanted: New F1 Drivers For 2011 Season

 

Will they still be driving for next season's F1 race?

Six F1 teams has yet to fill vacancies for their drivers in the upcoming 2011 Formula 1 season.  FIA has announced that Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Lotus and Sauber made confirmations on their F1 drivers for 2011.

Current Constructor’s champion Red Bull Racing Renault will still have world F1 champion Sebastian Vettel and Australian Mark Webber to anchor the team for another sterling race in the 2011 season. Ferrari will still depend on Fernando Alonso and Felippe Massa to redeem a lackluster season in 2010.  The Italian F1 team made a late surge in the last part of the season which gave Alonso the lead in the driver’s championship but lost it to RBR’s Vettel in the last race of the season, Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Vettel eventually won the 2010 F1 Driver’s Championship.

McLaren Mercedes keeps its hope with both former F1 champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton to surpass their 2010 performance.  Both British drivers were in position to bagged the driver’s championship but unfortunately succumbed to technical problems in the later part of the season. Michael Schumacher will still be driving for Mercedes together Nico Roseberg. The 7th time champion is still have to win a Grand Prix race after his comeback from retirement.

Williams Cosworth retains the services of Ruben Barrichello as lead driver for the British F1 team and teams up with 2010 GP2 champion Pastor Maldonado. Sauber Ferrari will have Samui Kobayashi and rookie Sergio Perez Mendoza to drive for the team.  Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen will drive for Lotus Renault.  The Malaysian-backed team might change team name before the opening of the new season.

Other F1 teams – Force India Mercedes, STR Ferrari, HRT Cosworth, Virgin Cosworth, and Torro Rosso –  has yet to complete their lineups for the next season.  Timo Glock is still driving for Virgin Cosworth.  Torro Ross has shown interest in Sebastien Buemi, Jaime Alguersuari and rooki driver Daniel Ricciardo. Renault has yet to confirm its other driver to race alongside Robert Kubica.  Vitaly Petrov is expected to be with the team for another season.

The search is on for new F1 drivers to complete upcoming race season.
